How To Stop Feeling Stuck

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

We've all been there. You're in a rut, feeling stuck, and not sure how to get out. Maybe you're in a job you hate, or in a relationship that's going nowhere. Whatever the case may be, feeling stuck is inevitable at some point in life. But it doesn't have to be permanent.

This point demands change and like it or not, it is inevitable and perhaps one of the things we need to master. Let me share how stages of change applies to this situation and will get you out of feeling stuck.

1. Define what "stuck" means to you.

Change demands awareness. Be aware of what you're feeling and why you're feeling this way. Define what that means for you. Have a reality check. What changes do you need to make in order to feel better? Start to envision yourself into that change that you are describing. It helps to be specific with your goals and don't be afraid to dream big.

Once you have a clear picture of what you want, it will be easier to take the steps needed to get there.

2. Create a plan of action.

Once you know what your goal is, it's time to create a plan of action. This will involve setting smaller goals that will help you achieve the main goal.

For example, if your goal is to have a healthy lifestyle. You will have to consider workout plans and meal plans that will get you towards your goal.

Having a plan gives you a sense of direction and helps to prevent feelings of overwhelm. It helps you to check-in whether you're led towards your goal or you're straying away from it.

3. Take actionable steps every day.

It can be easy to get caught up in the planning phase but later on get caught and face problems upon its execution. That's why it's important to make sure you're taking at least one small step every day towards your goal.

This could be something as simple as 15-min cardio that helped you burn some calories or preparing one healthy meal for the day.

The important thing is that you're making progress, no matter how small it may be. Have a regular check-in to your goal and acknowledge the wins that you are able to achieve.

4. Be patient and trust the process .

One of the most difficult things about feeling stuck is being patient and trusting that everything you've planned will work out in the end. This demands resilience and perseverance. It's important to remember that "Rome wasn't built in a day" and "Good things take time".

You will not achieve your goals overnight but having the discipline to follow through your course will lead you to it.

Feeling stuck is inevitable and the choice to get yourself out of it lies in your mindset. May you have the courage to start moving towards the life that you want.
