Are you feeling completely overwhelmed with the amount of things you have to accomplish? Sometimes, it can be difficult to know where to start. If you feel like you need more of something in order to be productive, then this blog post is for you!
Putting yourself first is a great way to be more present, prepared, purposeful and confident. And it's an excellent way to start anew on the right foot.
It is hard for anyone these days to worry about themselves and their needs first, but that is what we should be doing more often. Assume that you are the most important person in your life and put your needs first. There's nothing to feel guilty about it.
Here’s are four-easy tips:
Add “ME-TIME” to your schedule. Take a break. After a particularly stressful occasion, it's important to take a break. The feeling of being overwhelmed can be paralyzing and it's often hard to find the time or energy to do anything but stay in bed.
2. Check-in with how you feel right now. It can be overwhelming at times thinking about everything you need to do. Remember, there are people who care about you. You can call them or message them to let them know how you're doing. Who knows, they can be of help with what you're have difficulties with?
If you're not in the mood to talk about it, try the next tip:
3. Clarify what you need more of to find productivity. Modern life is busy. There are so many things competing for your attention. Whether it be work, family or social media, it's hard to find the time to focus on the most important things. Though technology has made our lives easier, it can often make us more distracted and less productive. Too often, we power through the day without taking time to assess. Spend a few minutes writing down the things that’s occupying your mind to help your mind relax.
4. Move on to your day with a refreshed perspective. Asses and review your to-do list and adjust your plans. Refreshing your perspective can help you make better decisions, be more productive and let you find a little of the gratitude in things.
Putting yourself first is not selfish. It's good for you and it's good for the people around you.
We can't put others first without putting ourselves first. We need to take care of our needs, wants, and desires in order to be a better person. If we're exhausted, stressed, or unhappy then we're going to have a hard time helping others in a way that they want and deserve to be helped.
We need to make time for ourselves and our goals or we'll wear out before we realize it. Putting yourself first also includes taking care of your mental health as well as your physical health which can be done through self-reflection, relaxation, meditation or exercise - whatever suits you best.
